Two point perspective
Prosepctive
In this piece I drew a simple 3D cuboid from two points of the horizon line, this is known as two point perspective. This is the simple drawing so I found this easy compare to the other drawings.
One point prospective
These two images are one point prospective. The first image is above the horizon point giving us the view that we are below the object and the second image is giving us the view that we are above the image.
3D Car (3 point prospective) and Skyscraper
In this task I was supposed to draw a 3D car. However, it did not turn out how I wanted it to and does not look like a car. I think next time would try to understand the overlapping lines at the back as this is where I went wrong.
This piece is trying to add two 3D shapes together also it is creating a sky scraper shape, this is 3 point perspective.
3D room of University with shading
This is my piece of work where I took a photo of one of the entrances at my university and then draw a 3D image from it. I like the way this looks a I think I got the 3D aspect of it very well. However, this lights on the top are not the greatest and I could have drawn them better.
Object inspired drawing
I created a robot with one wheel that was inspired by a water bottle, there are a few things that I know I could improve on this image, first of all it does not look 3D therefor not looking that great. Next time I would give the robot more of a 3 dimension look with shading.
This image is inspired by a simple rubber, the image is of a small space ship. I like this image as I feel there is a lot of detail that I have added in. However, I am not happy with the 3d side of the image this is because the front of the ship does not match the back therefor ruining the illusion of the image. Next time I will try and match each side of the ship.
Human proportion
This image shows the average proportion of the human body, typically the human head should fit into the body 8 times.
With the image on the left I had 10 minutes to draw a sketch of one of my fellow class mates. I believe in this image I did a good jo and I like the way I captured the hair, also I like the way I captured the proportion of the face. However the image is not the perfect sketch and I could improve it by giving it some shading and creating a more 3D look.
This image shows the proportion of the human head and how to draw it. This image is supposed to be a skull. With this piece of work I think I could have done a better job with drawing the skull I say this because it is not a great drawing, however does show the typical proportion for the human head.
I created some composition which included picture from different pieces of paper and magazines. The images are randomly placed on the piece of paper.
I then cut all the piece of paper up in different section using a view finder. These pieces of paper where then used to explain the different types of shots that are used in media.
I drew some sketches of set object that we had to draw. Then with theses drawing I had to create a set narrative. Which is a lot harder then you would think as none of the drawings are connected. I think I was able to create a decent narrative. However, it is hard to tell what the narrative is trying to tell you. This is not real problem as that was not the aim of the task.
These two drawing are environments I created as concepts for a nightmare dream sequence. I wanted to add in depth to the drawing and I think I did this well. I also shaded the image, I did this better on the first image rather then the second.
I created concepts for characters in the dream sequence. I created a doll type monster and a crazy clown type creature. I also drew a hand holding the doll to show the size of the of the doll and the fact that it is a doll.
This is the third character that I have created. It is a manakin still monster for my dream sequence.
Roald Dohl: The LandLady
I will be creating a short story on the Landlady but adding own ending to it.
Proposal
I wish to create a piece of work that outlines the basic story of the Landlady with an added bonus of my own narrative added into the end where a creature escapes part of the house and terrorises the characters. My goal is to create a horror short film that sets suspension through out its run time.
Plan
Old Women and Billy Weaver
I created a mood board to give me inspiration to create the face for the old women in my images.
I have created a mood board to get inspiration for the face of my old lady that I will sketch. I have also got a colour pallet from online to give me the colour that I will want to put onto my final concept of my drawings.
Name: Sonia Jones
Age: 72
Occupation: Retired
Sonia has a strange obsession with the mythical creature known as the wendigo. When she was younger her dad was murdered by one, her mum was then arrested as the main suspect and no matter how much she pleaded her mum was arrested and put away for the murder. She then became obsessed with proving the existence of one. To the point where she even attempted to create her own which was successful. She does this by preying on innocent people and turning them into a wendigo. But has not become fascinated with the creature and wants to see how it behaves and hunts. Locking it in her upstairs room and feeding unsuspecting people to it.
Name: Billy Weaver
Age: 17
Occupation: Student
Billy has taken a break from his work but likes to dress in smart wear. He tends to sty in bed and breakfasts and hotels as he likes to travel around a lot. He does this because he does not have a great relationship with his family therefore does not like to liv with them.
Wendigo
To add my own twist to the story instead of the old lady poisoning the boy he will go up the stairs and find out on of the men has turned into a wendigo which is a old mountain myth but I want to bring it into the town of Bristle.
What is a Wendigo?
A creature that was once human but was transformed into an immortal evil spirit when it took up the practice of cannibalism. Wendigos are cursed to wander the land, eternally seeking to fulfill their voracious appetite for human flesh.
The wendigo is the main character of my story.
Insiration for the wendigo
This is two concepts of scene is have made of the wendigo that I will have in my scene. The top image is the creature fist getting discovered in his room before it escapes. The second is the creatures searching for the Billy after he escapes. I do like this image as the quality is certainly better then what I normally produce.
These are first concepts of the wendigo the top two images where mistakes the bottom right one is the basic shape of the creature where as the bottom left is the creatures face
Enviroment
I created Mood boards for my enviroment more specifically the house exterior and intirer. This was an easy task as it was just collecting images I liked. I never really ended up using any of these as I preferred the images I took as I could take images of what I want.
Basic House Sketch
I created small sketches of my houses to see which design I liked the most and the image I liked as the house in the top left so this is what I will probably bas emy house on when I final start to draw it.
These images are early designs of the street and house as well as the front from of the house I also created the living room. These are images to see if I could use perspective effectually which I feel I did a good job at.
Basic Character Stance
Here I was looking at basic character stances. Mainly to look at how my creature would look but I never really go round to using it.
Script
I created a script for my whole short story. This will help me when creating the final piece as it will give me something to follow. The script is very basic but as long as I can follow it later on that is all that matters.
These are some basic drawings which I drew very quickly and then attempted to shade them in. These are just simply sketches to give me an idea of what my shots will look like.
Adding colour
The two images below are pictures that I put together of my three characters that will be in my story. The pictures where created with random pieces of paper that I painted on, then cutting out shapes I glued the images onto the paper.
These pieces of work are me experimenting with colour. I used books such as magazines to accomplish my task. I like the first two as the colours are great as they where made of paint however the other ones not so much. It is hard to tell what they are meant to be even though I added pencil to them to add in detail. The bottom two are the creature, the old lady and a book (Left of the bottom right image) The top left image consists of a sofa, a fire place and a window.
The images below are images of my creature but with added colour. I have gone for a light grey colour to give off a dead lifeless look. I really like this image in fact I liked it so much I changed the areas I didn't like such as the feet and used it as my final image.
I have begun to add colour to the characters, however I do not like the colours on the old lady so will need to change that. I also drew simple tea cups and began to add colour into those.
Face design
I have begun to develop face designs. I am terrible at drawing faces so this is a big challenge for me. I started drawing the face of the male character and for a first sketch it is not terrible but does need a lot of development.
I was trying to experiment with how the face of my creature would look. Like I said before my creature is heavily based on the wendigo from until dawn. The image on the left was an okay image but did not turn out the way I wanted mainly due to the fact the lower jaw overlapped the top.
The picture below as multiply image of face I drew he image on the top did not at all turn out how I wanted them to. However the two on the bottom right I really like especially the far right one and these images are what I will try and based my final images on.
These two images are not going to be involved in my final images however I really like the skull as I think it simply looks like a good drawing. I drew this to try and get an understanding on how the human face looks. I tried to apply this to my old lady's face and it didn't turn out well.
Sketches of shots
These images are quick and simple sketches of shots that I am considering adding into my short film. The first image is a shot where the creature is first being introduced and you cat see the creatures face as it moves in to attack the old lady. This image is okay but obviously is not the best as it is a quick sketch. The second image is where the creature has grabbed the old lady as is attacking her. This image is okay but I struggled to draw her head from the side. The third image is just small sketches of shots nothing special just simple drawings. The last tow images are more complex shots that I will most likely include in my short film.
Further Character develop
These two images where a proper attempt at drawing my two human characters in my story. Which I really struggled to accomplish, the clothes where not bad but once I get to the face I simple cant draw the human faces. even try to proportion it currently with a gird I still struggle to complete it. However apart from the faces I like these images.
These where images that I took out and took for references. I preferred these images to the ones I found online as they where better material. However, it was difficult to get images especially ones inside my house as my house is very limited to what is inside and was difficult to find things to take pictures of. However, I did learn that using reference images is essentially to draw something accurately and moderately good looking. Due to the fact I am not the best drawer it di help a lot.
Shot list
A shot list is essential to understanding how the shot will look during production. This is very simple but it doesn't need to be complicated just as long as I understand what is going on. I was try to dedicate only around 24 hots as when it comes to filming I don't want there to be an unrealistic amount of shots to accomplish. Plus I'm not dedicated to follow this just have it as a plan I could follow.
Final images
This image is the street in which the house is down. I like this image as the perspective is good I think. However, again I struggled to get effective shading. This is what I feel let my pictures down the most. As I have never been good at shading.
this is my first image of a train station exit/entrance, Out of all my final images there is 4 I do not like. This is one of them. Even though I shaded it I struggled to make it look effective and noticeable without over doing it.
This is another one of my favourite images and like the image above it is drawn on grey paper. It is the hallway of the house just after coming in from the front door. I think it looks very good for my drawing skill at least. The shading is better in this image mainly on the floor. The shadow of my phone does make the shading look off on the floor.
This is possibly my favourite image out of all of them. It is the outside of the house. Also it is drawn on grey paper. I used tip ex to create the white areas of the images. Tip Ex is a pain to use as it dries so quick and comes of if you brush anther layer on it. Again the shading is not at top notch, Even though I did shade it in the lighting it does not seem to show it. Mainly due to the fact I don't like dark shading as I am worried I will ruin the image. Anyway this image has to be one of my best.
The image to the right is the kitchen and this another image I do not like. I really struggled to get the prospective right in this image for some reason. Mainly with the fridge and especially with the tile floor. The shading is okay in this image but like before it could be better.
This is another image that I drew on grey paper and then applied tip ex to it. I like this image however there is a lot wrong with it. The shading is not great mainly like before I am worried I will ruin the image. The perspective of the sofa is off.
This image to the left is the upstairs corridor and I really like this image. I think is got the perspective very well. The shading is good as well I did struggle with try to get the stairs on the lift to look good but apart from that this image was not that difficult.
This image is Billy Weavers bedroom. I like this image as I feel I got the perspective right. I only did one angle from this picture due to the fact there will not be many shots in this room. The shading is pretty good as well.
The image on the left is The room in which the creature will be in, this room was simple as it only had chains in the room which is where the creature will be locked up at. The shading was okay in this image however I think it could be darker. Also the perspective is decent in this image as well.
The image above is the Guest book I like this image as it looks like a book and the shading is good in the image as well apart from that I don't really have anything else to say about it
The image on the left is the cup that the old lady gives to billy to try and knock him out. This was a simple image but I did mess up a little on the cup handle. The shading could also be better in this image. but apart from that it is an okay image.
The image on the right is another image I do not like. I could not draw the old lady in any way I wanted to as I struggled with it. The shading is also not great. I have always struggled drawing people to be honest I have struggled with drawing overall.
This is another one of the images I do not like. Drawing people has never been something I can do. No matter how many time I tried I could not get the drawing to look exactly how I wanted to. There is no real perspective in the image however the shading is okay, not perfect and could be better
The three images Are the creature, however to recreate the face was so difficult and I could not do it. The body is good and I lie it but the face is awful. Which is why I took my old image and brought it here as I really like it. But apart from that I really like these images.
Reflection
I have never been good at drawing which I think immediately put me at a disadvantage. I think I have given all the drawings a good go. But with my final images I do not like some of them as I feel my drawings have been poor with some of them. I found it difficult with drawing people. I would change a lot but that is for the future. I think next time I would improve my shading and focus on improving drawing people.
Early concept images for final peice
These two images where very simple concepts for my final images of the train station and house. These early concepts gave me and idea of what I wanted for my later final images.
I created an early concept of the upstairs hallway that will be in my final piece this was very basic but allowed me to have an understanding to how the picture I going to look.
this is the hallway for my building again it is very basic and allowed me to improv from something else.
This an early image for the bedroom from my final piece, again it helped me with the final piece.
Further perspective work
Here I was learning further on how perspective worked and to do this I created a fence, This was pretty simple as it was just the first task that I had to do of the day.
The first task was to drawn a 2D BMW in a graph, I drew it I the graph to get the proportion accurate. Next I had to draw the same car but in a 1 point perspective this was confusing as I couldn't get the size right from front to back to give the illusion that the front was further away then the back. The next task was super confusing and I couldn't get it right, I had to do the same hing as the last task but in a two point perspective I really struggled wihh this task as I found it super comfusing.
Here I created a circle in a graph which was confusing at first put I got it after a while. It was confusing because I drew a graph and then drew lines from certain dots and a circle fits in the left over space. My second task was to create the same graph but in a two point perspective. This was super confusing and got messy once I had drawn more then 4 lines.
